periodontics

Our specialists in periodontal surgery are in charge of treating specific gum diseases, as common as gingivitis (inflammation and bleeding of the gum) and periodontitis (destruction of the bone that supports the teeth) caused by the accumulation of tartar and bacterial plaque. .

CLINICAL ORAL HYGIENE

Gingivitis is periodontal disease in its most initial phase and, therefore, mild. This is because the bacteria affect only the gum area. Therefore, its treatment is usually simple. It is generally solved by performing a clinical oral cleaning, which will eliminate both bacteria and possible accumulations of tartar.

Periodontitis is periodontal disease in its most advanced and, therefore, aggressive phase. It occurs when gingivitis is allowed to progress and bacteria gain access to the inside of the gums.

By penetrating deeper, they form the so-called periodontal pockets that end up damaging the root and the bone that supports the tooth.

Professional dental cleaning is recommended to be done at least once a year to complete our oral hygiene. The oral hygienist staff performs a thorough cleaning, removing all bacterial plaque (tartar) and stains that accumulate on the surface of the teeth and that cannot be removed at home.
